The hilly village of Montalcino, is located in the territory of the "Crete senesi",an area of clay hills so attractive for its unique beauty. There is no photographer, film amateur or wandering artist who has not been intrigued, at least once, by the erosion furrows and Jura limestone, the sunny and tremendous splendour of the Crete. Haughty, their color changing from violet to gold and garnet, according to the seasons, these rolling hills are enlivened here by the decorous elegance of the farmhouses perched on their bare ridges, and there by the russet bricks of the top hilly towns.

In total contrast with the baldness of the Crete area, the rest of this stretch of land is luxurious and woody, carachterized by olive groves and rows of vines. This is the region of production of the famous "Brunello di Montalcino", one of the world's distinguished and important wines which has a precise date and place of birth, besides an actual author and inventor: Mr Biondi Santi. You will have the privilege of visiting his private villa and winery where, besides getting some precious information about this wine - already known at the English Court in the 17th century - you will taste some of the best from Biondi Santi's cellar.

Afterward you will visit the medieval town of Montalcino and its Rocca (Fort) with your driver-guide.

The drive then will proceed through the country, and you'll be surpriced by the unique beauty of the elegant abbey of Sant'Antimo, a true jewel of the Romanesque, which stands out in the middle of the green countryside. Driving along the panoramic road of the Orcia Valley, one of the most impressive in Tuscany, stop and visit Pienza, considered the "ideal town" of the Renaissance.

Famous for being built in only three years work by the major architects of the 15 hundreds commissioned by Pope Pius II, Pienza also offers to visitors some interesting local produce, as pecorino cheese (one of the best in Italy), and some excellent cold cuts. At the end of the visit, your driver-guide will take you back to your hotel.
